The Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR) course trains personnel to perform bank-based and shallow water rescues and searches in water and flood environments.
The Swiftwater and Flood First Responder course introduces water and flood hydrology, required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and foundation skills and rescue techniques needed to under take bank based and shallow water rescues in a swiftwater or flood environment . The course content complies with the DEFRA Flood Concept of Operations Training Module 2 – Water & Flood First Responder. This course is DEFRA compliant to Module 2.
Core content includes:
- Swiftwater swimming techniques
- Conditional rescues -talk, reach, throw
- Shallow water techniques
- Introduction to searching rivers and floods
