The Basic Water Rescuer (BWR) course is intended for personnel who may need to respond to rescue situations in basic, non-moving water environments, such as lakes, ponds, and canals.
This course provides the knowledge and skills to perform rescues in a basic (still) water environment including tethered swim rescues and the use of rescue sleds/boards.
Core course content includes:
- Shallow water techniques
- Conditional rescues – talk, reach, throw
- True Rescues – tethered and untethered
- Search considerations
