The Tower Crane Rescue course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely rescue injured or ill individuals from a tower crane using a controlled descent device, with a focus on safety and compliance with height-related legislation.
The Tower Crane Rescue course is designed for workers who need to rescue an injured or ill person from a tower crane. It covers essential information on safe work systems and the relevant legislation for working at height. Participants will learn how to perform a safe rescue by lowering a person to the ground using the IKAR Controlled Descent Device. The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions, ensuring that participants understand the importance of a rescue plan and know how to execute it effectively.
Course content includes:
- Basic understanding of work at height legislation and regulations
- Importance of site safety including risk assessment, method statements and rescue plans
- Medical considerations affecting decision making, rescues and limitations
- Personal protective equipment selection, use and pre-use checks
- Personal safety when working at height and performing a rescue
- Incident management, site control and communication
- Anchors: selection, use and considerations
- Use of emergency harness, including fitting to casualty
- Identifying and using rescue equipment
- Pre-use inspection and storage of rescue equipment
- Perform a rescue using a pre-set-up rescue system (lifting and lowering of a casualty)
