The Rope Rescue Specialist (RRS) course is designed for members of rope rescue teams seeking advanced technical expertise for navigating intricate rope rescue settings.
The Rope Rescue Specialist course builds on the Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) and Rope Rescue Technician (RRT) courses. It focuses on advanced techniques and complex rescue scenarios.
Participants will practice rigging and operating reeving highlines. They will set up horizontal lifelines and use low-stretch cord anchors. The course teaches advanced offset techniques, including two-rope and deflected offsets. It also covers artificial frames, such as sideways A-frames, standard A-frames, and gin poles.
The course includes constructing anchor frames for raising and lowering. Participants will manage multi-pitch/multi-stage lowers and raises. They will also work to solve complex rescue problems. Training on artificial anchors like natural anchors like rock anchors (nuts, stoppers, and cams) and jamb beam anchors is included.
If relevant to the organisation, participants will also learn industrial lead climbing, horizontal aid climbing, and how to use powered winches and ascenders.
By completing this course, participants will master advanced rope rescue techniques and be ready for demanding rescue scenarios.
