Confined Space Rescue Operator

The Confined Space Rescue Operator (CSRO) course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to operate safely and efficiently as part of a confined space rescue team.

Primarily designed for emergency services and industrial Standby Rescue teams this course provides the essential knowledge and skills to perform team based rescues from vertical and horizontal entry/exit confined spaces. Including the use of Emergency Escape Sets (EEBA) and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) the course includes rescues from high atmospheric risk confined spaces. As well as looking at standard industrial entry/exist equipment (tripod, retrievable fall arrest block and winches), the course also looks at rope based access, egress and rescue systems using specialist tripods such as the Arizona Vortex.

Core content areas include:

  • Use of 4 gas diffuse and pump meters
  • Pre-planning and incident size-up
  • Rope based raising and lowering systems
  • Casualty care and packing.
