The Lifejacket Competent User (LJCU) course is designed for workers who are issued a lifejacket and are required to work near water as part of their job.
This course is appropriate for workers who do not need to complete the full Safe Working Near Water course because they have already completed a Water Awareness and Safety course or only need to learn how to properly don, doff, and care for a lifejacket. It focuses on the use of manual or auto-inflation lifejackets as PPE for accidental water entry. Practical training is provided to ensure workers are prepared for such an event if it occurs.

- Safe systems of work
- Accidental immersion considerations
- Lifejacket maintenance, periodic inspections and transportation
- Swimming and self-rescue in lifejackets
