Safe Working in Confined Spaces (Low and Medium Risk, Horizontal and Vertical)

The Safe Working in Confined Spaces (Low and Medium Risk, Horizontal and Vertical) (SWCSHV) course is designed for those who need to work in confined spaces that have a low/medium level of atmospheric risk and may require both horizontal and vertical entry.

As well as covering foundation knowledge on hazards and risk associated with working in confined spaces the course introduces key knowledge on confined space legislation, safe systems of work, gas monitoring, entry control and ventilation.

The course introduces the use of a tripods, fall arrest blocks and winches for undertaking NC2 confined space entries.

Core course content includes:

  • Use of a gas meter
  • Use of Emergency Escape Sets (EEBA)
  • Entry and exit procedures for horizontal  and vertical confined spaces.
