Search Operations Class

We’re really pleased to be able to offer a three-day search class delivered by Tim Rogers – Battalion Chief, Charlotte Fire Dept, and Chris Onions – Training Director, R3 Safety and Rescue Ltd. This course looks at search theory with relation to searching rivers and floods and draws from case studies of hurricanes Katrina, Isabel and Charley, as well as UK ‘Best Practice’ models.

This course is aimed at Search and Rescue Instructors and Managers who either require a greater understanding of the searching process or who will be involved with managing searches in water or during flooding incidents. It is pitched at operational and tactical levels, with a balance of theory work in the classroom and practical sessions outside.

Course content includes the actions required on first notice, searching techniques, application of search theory and documenting of search activity. It is evidence-based and represents an excellent developmental opportunity for SAR professionals.
